Campus Underground Game or Sport?: Beer Pong

When people think of the words games or sports they usually think of Baseball, Basketball, Football, and maybe even golf, but there are some sports/games that are being played on college campus' all across the country. They are being used at parties and sometimes even just playing around, for some they want to practice and get better and others to learn new tricks of the trade. You may ask youself what "Sports" are being played on college campus' at parties.

There is a major sport that is developing a new life and creating mass hysteria across the country at Universities everywhere. This soo called sport you may already know or just now learning that it is a "Sport", well to college students it's not just a sport it's a way of life. This developed sport has came from the most uncommon place and that is Cambridge University, where a group of young college students were trying to by there time on the weekends to blow off steam from the past week of classes and getting ready for the upcoming week. The sport was originally developed using ping pong balls and paddles, but it went from there to throwing the ball, some of you reading this already know what I'm talking about but for those of you who dont, this sport is called Beer Pong.

Beer Pong has transformed from using ping pong paddles to hit the ball to just throwing the ball, for those of you who doesn't know the sport of Beer Pong I'm gonna lay down a few of the basic ground rules for the sport. Beer Pong is played on an 8 foot table sitting at about 27 inches off the floor, with 2 teams of 2 people on opposite ends of the table with 10 cups filled with 2 ounces of beer in each cup set up in a triangle formation. Each player gets to throw a ball at the cups, now there is an assortment of different shots you can choose from, there is the high arcing shot, the bullet where you throw the ball on a beeline at the cups, and there is the bounce but with the bounce the opposing team has fair game to be able to block the shot from going in and if you make it, it counts as 2 cups gone.

With so much experience and playing rules are subject to change, with something that we like to call "house rules". See house rules are very tricky to be able to get used to especially when you've been playing under your our sets of rules. Not all rules are the same, people like to vary the rules to put more interest and fun in the games.

I remember one night I was at a party with some buddies and we called next game. We started to play and they shot first because they were winners, well the first person shot and it bounced off a cup and into another. By their rules they take the intial contact cup and the cup they made out for 2 cups. We tried to argue that rule and say that it was stupid but the owner of the house said sorry man "house rules".
